Like all the other comments, this was a recorded message claiming to be from Inland Revenue (I should have smelled a rat immediately at that point - it s HMRC now...) and that I was being sued. Brain not in gear, and in panic, dialled 1, but silence at the other end, then call terminated. I am now so angry. SCAM / SPAM Called me using a computer generated voice claiming to be from the HMRC. Claimed there was tax fraud in my name. Said if I didn't press 1 immediately to speak to someone an arrest warrant would be issued in my name. At this point I burst out laughing and cut the call!

Received 5 calls from this number on my landline today, 3 calls within 4 minutes, another one 15 minutes later and the last an hour and a half later. I leave the answer machine on, there was one automated message only that didn't inform me of anything. I've wondered why there are so many messages all of a sudden when I've had a quiet few days. I did receive a call from Home Start on a local 01267 number that I answered a half an hour before my first silent call. Maybe there is a link there.

SCAM After a short silent pause I got a recorded message telling me that I have a missed call from my internet provider.
We have been called twice by this number. It is a digitally-generated message, not a human, stating that it is from HMRC and that an arrest warrant has been generated. The call was closed by our answering machine before it could be completed. There was the start of a list of options. My 10 year old answered the phone and was extremely worried that the police were going to be on our doorstep. I'm sure that it's a scam...at least I hope so.
