Told me they were calling as id applied for a loan which had been declined. I haven t applied for any loasns and she kept insisting I had but said she couldn t tell me where id applied due to confidentiality. In the process of buying a house and the only loan id applied for was a mortgage which is already in place so very disconcerting. When I tried to question her she tried to end the call. Clearly a scam.
Recorded message (automated) stating that HM Customs & Excise had filed a lawsuit against me and press on the dial pad to speak to the case officer. The message did not record on the voicemail system and is quite clearly a scam.

These companies that provide numbers in first instance need to be investigated and blocks put in place. I think the UK regulator in the field is failing us as the public. What do they actually do??? In my opinion virtual numbers and use there of including the companies that provide these numbers needs to be monitored to stop this abuse. Well this is some landline from Manchester area, I couldn't find any info for this specific number, but there are two facts : people do search for this number which can be seen from different similar pages, and there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated, all the same 016176801xx) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. Probably calling with different offers for different comapnies, but for sure some general call centre. People did someone answer it?
