kept ringing, hung up. its a computer calling many homes at once, and when you pick up, if they have staff available they will talk. if no staff, the call hangs up and calls another 100+ homes. very annoying. if not a scam, probably selling junk or ppi that you wouldnt have bought otherwise. AVOID

From the other comments, o gather this is Christians Against Poverty which is a charity I support. Not sure why they called me but I know they re trustworthy :)

They are based on wharf industrial estate in bury, Manchester and Blackburn. The staff who call have no idea, nor choice of who they ring as the system selects a number at random from their data, and only when the line opens do they see your name and address etc. They are legitimate in terms of what they are offering (a free hearing frequency test at your local football club/hotel) however, if you will receive any money should a claim be successful is questionable. Person with an Asian accent (after a delay) introducing himself as Peter Thompson purporting to be from BT claimed someone in America was using my IP address and accessing emails . Asked what devices I was using to access the internet. The scammer wasn t afraid to argue back aggressively when I told him in no uncertain terms I knew this was an attempt to hack in to the internet.
