Said they were BT, I had too many people using my IP. The account name was wrong. They said they could block them from their server, but it would be better from my PC. After my challenges they sent a text message with a verification code. It said to change my password. I did. Had one previously, real BT support said it was a scam. Assumed this identical call was too. Only the false account name was a clue, otherwise how can you tell?

Rang my mobile yesterday. So much background noise I could hardly hear what the bloke was saying. Definitely a call centre. Mumbled something about a company I'd bought from 3 years ago trying to re-connect with me. Sweetener was a £50 gift card. Wouldn't take no for an answer. Hung up on him and blocked the number.

We have friend's numbers programmed into our phones. If the phone rings and no name is shown on the screen, DON'T answer it! They can always send an SMS - they have my number anyway! Never, ever answer an incoming call from an un-recognised number. Just in case you do answer such a call, e.g. by mistake, keep a police type old-fashioned whistle by the phone, and when you realise they are trying to scam you, say that you want to say something important and ask them to listen very carefully, then blow into th

Automated call saying from bank. Suspicious activity on bank card/credit card. Checked online and does say fraud team do automated calls but then will phone or text you… I just don’t press any buttons on phone as you never no.. phoned fraud line to check.. guess what it wasn’t them.
They offered me a 40% discount on my EE bill. I checked with EE and its a scam, nothing to do with EE. They ask some personal questions (which i refused to answer) then send a generic email, Subject 'EE Upgradation' (im not even sure that's a word, is it) saying Welcome to EE, etc, etc. I hung up and suggest you do the same.
Accident. We have been informed you have been involved in an accident that wasn't your fault
