I was told that they were a promotional team working on behalf of BT. They offered me a discount on my BT bill of 45%! Wanted to know how I paid my bill. I told them that as BT had supplied them with my name, address and telephone number they should have supplied them with this information also. There was a long pause, then the line went dead. Incidentally the young lady caller pronounced the letter Z (the last letter of my postcode) as 'zee' - an Americanism.

Missed a call to my mobile from this unknown local Nottingham number. Suspicious as I haven't given my number to any but a handful of friends, and my doctor/dentist/pharmacy. No message left. SCAM Told me it was the royal mail and they wanted to send me an invoice for £1.55 for a packet with no postage. I asked how they got my number and they said the delivery office gave it to them. The supposed packet was in London and I am in Somerset. I called her bluff and said the delivery office did not have my number and she then hung up. They did not have an English accent.
Mobile phone spam / scam / fraud. Scammers pretend to call from Currys Mobile department. They will sign you up on a completely different deal than agreed initially with the most expensive phone available. They use several phone numbers some of them on Whatsapp. Also will e-mail an order confirmation from an address that seems genuine. It's not. After receiving the parcel they will try to convince you to send the phone back to some shady residential address. Avoid!
