I picked up the phone to be asked to confirm my name and address. I was informed that this was to send me a cheque for some sort of overpayment. I was also told that the caller was from the UK Financial Services. I asked for clarification about the "overpayment", suspecting a scam, and the phonecall was terminated. The caller had a heavy far Eastern (Oriental) accent and I could hear was a lot of other phone conversations going on in the background. This is obviously some sort of scam.

Called from this number. He said he was from Orange, but wasn t able to verify. Asked me if I had their broadband. Didn t answer him, just asked him what the call was about. Said he wanted to save me money. I think he realised he wasn t going to get far, so he gave up and ended the conversation. I don t believe he was from Orange.

Recorded voice saying I had an sms message which went to the voicemail on my landline. I press the play button but the part of the message I listened to sounded dodgy so I delet...

Call centre cold calling.

I thought these cold calls were being stopped by B.T. But no, a call to my ex-directory number from a posh lady going on about surveys. At least it wasn t an Indian call center.
