It is obvious that the firm making these calls is also manipulating this forum. Both are equally shite. In my case they have a pretend-itslocal pseudo number. Jail for you soon. Not soon enough.

Most likely Wescot. Halifax had passed my credit card debt to them two deal with so was expecting a call.

This is the UK version of a scam running amok in the US. The supposed company, microsoftechs.com, contacts people and claims there is an issue with their computer. The claim to be partnered with Microsoft and gain confidence with all the classic scam talk. These people obtain, STEAL, your tel. number from your ip address via metadata. Ever come accross annoying adverts when browsing online which doesn t let you close? ie. Engadget, youtube etc...
