A man with a strong Indian/Pakistani accent called and told me he was calling from BT as my broadband connection was to be updated. He asked me to turn on my router and my laptop and the update would automatically start to download. Dodgy guy claimed to be ringing from anti crime organisation in London. When asked why it was a Manchester number on caller identifier he stated that it really was London (!) but I could call 08000969345 to verify who he was. Googled that number but that turned out to be a taxi firm in Manchester. Really.... how stupid do they think we are?

Seems to be another number related to the RSPCA - check them at http://www.rspca.org.uk/home - but this number is used by a global call centre working for multiple charities, and the bad thing is that they share the database of numbers, so can call you not only in the name of RSPCA then... Probably I will block this number, it became just a nuisance...
I had a email apparently from Meta (Facebook) to say this number (07956836341) had been added to my Facebook account and with a link to report this if it wasn’t me who added the number. The date on the email was wrong (Friday 6th June 2023 doesn’t exist). The link asked for my FB password so I didn’t continue. I checked my FB security details and no number had been added. It looks as though this is a scam to try to access FB passwords.
