Person with an Asian accent (after a delay) introducing himself as Peter Thompson purporting to be from BT claimed someone in America was using my IP address and accessing emails . Asked what devices I was using to access the internet. The scammer wasn t afraid to argue back aggressively when I told him in no uncertain terms I knew this was an attempt to hack in to the internet.

Called me at work, asked who they were, was told Pension Reduction Scheme , said I was writing that down, then she hung up. Also she had my name.

Called six times now in the space of an hour, I can hear the chaos of a call centre in the background but the caller doesn’t speak, call terminates at their end after about ten seconds. Annoyance blocked.

They are based on wharf industrial estate in bury, Manchester and Blackburn. The staff who call have no idea, nor choice of who they ring as the system selects a number at random from their data, and only when the line opens do they see your name and address etc. They are legitimate in terms of what they are offering (a free hearing frequency test at your local football club/hotel) however, if you will receive any money should a claim be successful is questionable. This number is used by Boku, a phone collection service (based in San Fransico, USA - with supposedly Europe wide offices) that collects "subscriptions" from, normally inadvertantly, "subscribing" to on-line adverts, messages and web sites.
