Asking to confirm my address details which I refused to confirm yet the caller was very pushy and continued in his persuit for this information. This is a solar energy firm (Solar World or My Planet) trying to sell panels.

My wife answered. Foreign male called asking to speak to XXX. No security questions asked. Claimed he was from Microsoft. When told we were on TPS, he became argumentative. He clearly hadn't heard of TPS. When asked to remove our details from their database he became aggressive and said he would disconnect our phone at our address. He knew our address because he read it out! He then put the phone down when I said in the background we were connecting to the police.

It's a scam offering a discount card for all major supermarkets and once you give your age group they told me I was also eligible for free return flight tickets and a week in a European villa. Catch - needed my 16 digit credit/Debit card number to place a penny charge to authenticate who I was. Needless to say I did not provide.

As far as I am concerned all phone callers are potential con artist so I very rarely answer my phone these days.
