I’ve just called O2 myself (202 is free from your O2 mobile) after becoming concerned about the level of my account information the person on the 0330 number had access to while offering me deal on an Alcatel tablet. The lovely lady I spoke to at O2 called the number herself and went through security checks which confirmed they are genuine, O2 authorised calls.

This number called, claiming to be from BT, telling me my internet was being hacked and "used for criminal purposes". Clear sounds of a busy call centre in background. Female caller had an Asian accent and called me "Maam" (Drives me crazy!) Why would BT have a call centre in Orkney, employing Asian operatives? I hung up and have now blocked the number.

Called me at 13.20 GMT. The line was dropped as soon as I answered. This is probably a computer generated call. A person will monitor several lines being dialled by the computer. The operator will pick up a call that gets a 'hit'. All the other lines will then 'drop out' ie hang up because the person monitoring the lines is speaking to some other poor unsuspecting victim.
