I have managed to confirm that calls from this number are from a company debt management company called Stephenson Drake (www.stevensondrake.com. They operate by automated cold calling your number. You will either hear silence or a message asking if you are having problems with debt. If you press 5 to speak to someone then you are cut off BUT your number is stored and you will receive a follow up call from them. Tried to call me twice but hung up as soon as I answered.
Not sure, but seemed to want all my ID details to confirm the refund I was to receive in couple of days, and was vague about who was calling, claimed to be some sort of Financial Authority. Number is Manchester area, and with all due respect to friends in Manchester, apart from Blackburn Lancashire, a call centre dialled call from Manchester rings more alarm bells than phone bells.

Said he was from Domestic and General asked for my name, and then said he could not hear me could I give it again which I did. I had cancelled a insurance with D & G and thought they were ring to make me change my name. He then asked for the first name of my address and post code, and again said he couldn t hear me and asked me to repeat it again. This is when I got suspicious and hung up. I rang D & G and they apparently do not keep a record of outgoing cals.
They claim that I signed up last year with them to stop unwanted calls. I do not recognize the name. They have charged me £149.99 for the final year then free for life. Claim to have updated the service. Well-spoken, good English, no accent.

Fraud. I got a recorded message in an American accent saying that a criminal case has been filed against me for tax evasion. I think I am probably stupid enough to accept this and panic, but I don't believe it and burst out laughing. I think the accent tipped me of 'cause the patter was quite believable(NOT!).

The caller said words to the effect "We are phoning regarding your recent accident which wasn't your fault" There was a short pause during which nothing was said and then the call was ended by the caller.
Rang me to tell me I had a finance loan between 2001 and 2011. They didn t know what company and tried to get me to tell them. They mentioned Lloyds the but never dealt with them.
