Definitely HSBC fraud department. It s a separate call centre to the central one as I was taken aback at the different "customer handling" of the fraud dept i.e. not as warm as the central team. It s a genuine number, just avoids the queues of the central number you d normally call.
This is a scammer - the phone number does not exist!

says credit investigation company when I picked up the call. I questioned their authenticity and was talked over when trying to ask questions so no listening skills there. Alarm bells are ringing ... what an amateur setup. Call leads to a lesser used number from a geographical location (Bolton). Calls blocked. NB: Don't be the 'one' who accepts this, ask questions, no sales & marketing company (legit or not) will make calls like this, question EVERYTHING you have been WARNED! don't do it be vigilant.

claimed to be from my internet provider-asked me to confirm router was working ok as had received large volume of calls. When I advised I was not at home(despite the fact they had called my landline) heard whispered conversation with a workmate/supervisor,asked to perform the same check on router again I repeated that I was not at home. Claimed to be from Coventry, offering to help with a serious problem on my computer. I asked him what sort of computer he thought I had. He cleverly said he didn t know and would not ever access my computer because that would be illegal. I pretended to play along for a bit, until he got annoyed with my frivolous answers to questions and hung up. Definitely a fraudster.

Someone claiming to be from BT saying my internet had been compromised. They knew my name and address. When I accused them of being a criminal they replied "Of course I'm not, you idiot". Any doubts I had about their authenticity vanished at that point!
