Weird thing was, this call came in on my company mobile, the number for which is only given out to colleagues and a few family members. SCAM pretends to have unauthorised payments from your bank account and to "press one to stop payments" - very dangerous. NO BANK would ring up anyone without saying WHO THEY ARE FOR A START! Sick of these scam calls! At least 5 a day from "HMRC" or "Bank" or "Royal Mail". DO NOT give your details. Say you will look at your acc online - without phone "help". I checked my bank online, no probs at all.

This is the UK version of a scam running amok in the US. The supposed company, microsoftechs.com, contacts people and claims there is an issue with their computer. The claim to be partnered with Microsoft and gain confidence with all the classic scam talk. If you do get scammed, they will access your computer via remote access, go through your email, install software and who knows what else. Automated message purportedly from VISA about a £600 debit on my account about 10.17am Mon 15 Mar, 2021. Their phone number (sourced from 1471) shares the same first 8 digits with two numbers featured on this site: 211 and 212. This implies that the company behind this scam has purchased a string of phone numbers. Surely, it can't be beyond the wit of the authorities to close them down.

Numbers starting 01202 159 are well known for being used in a home insulation scam. They use auto diallers which take no account of TPS or ex directory status.
