This number has rung all day long. When I did answer, a man said he was from the Telephone preference service, and said they could give me help with unwanted calls. Hung up.

They are based on wharf industrial estate in bury, Manchester and Blackburn. The staff who call have no idea, nor choice of who they ring as the system selects a number at random from their data, and only when the line opens do they see your name and address etc. They are legitimate in terms of what they are offering (a free hearing frequency test at your local football club/hotel) however, if you will receive any money should a claim be successful is questionable. They said they are from the government and want to check if I am at home. I was isolating following my return after travelling abroad. I confirmed as I was isolating at home. The caller then wanted me to divulge personal details which made me suspect the call as the passenger locator form has all my details. I refused and at that point the caller threatened me and said I would be reported fro not cooperating and the threats got more, and he said I would get into trouble, at which point I hung up.

I believe this to be a nuisance call, My advise to others is If you have a answer machine leave a outgoing message to incoming callers saying that if this is a telemarketer or any unknown caller ringing, that this call is classed as harassment and an invasion of your privacy and that you will ignore their call". I monitor all my calls and if I don t recognize the number I just let the answer machine takeover, they never leave a message and since I have been doing this my unwanted calls have started to cease

kept ringing, hung up. its a computer calling many homes at once, and when you pick up, if they have staff available they will talk. if no staff, the call hangs up and calls another 100+ homes. very annoying. if not a scam, probably selling junk or ppi that you wouldnt have bought otherwise. AVOID
