A female voice asking me whether I have been involved in a car accident. It was obviously a scam. I asked her to get lost, and then blocked the number.

First a woman answered, seemed like it was the last thing she wanted to do and told me the line was bad so she would call me back. No call back so I called again. We have had 5 calls from this number this week. Husband challenged them why he was calling and was given a load of abuse. My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so.
