Called pretending to be from BT broadband about an awful virus on my computer about to bring the whole BT network to a grinding halt. Wanted me to give him remote access to computer and hub. BT don t want to know, only thing to do really is to block the number to save any kids or elderly relatives being duped.

Received automated calls on land line (which also identified my name ) about fraudulent use of debit card and asking me to press any button to run checks. I didn't do this and instead called my bank from a different phone (in case of phone scam). BoS confirmed it was not them. Sounds like a scam to me where if you press a button on your phone when on the automated call it holds the line open and the fraudster will be on the other end of the line when you think you are actually calling your bank and getting
SCAM. A computerised voice saying warning my national insurance number has been compromised. I cut the call.

Line for shared costs, there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. This seems to be some good working money trap, similar numbers are reported as a scam offers (in most cases some financial offers). For sure some general call centre. I recommend to block the whole 8437241xx range... Did someone answer any number of this range?
