Silent call, then when tried to call back; number does not exist

Just had call from them. Again hung up when I answered. So tempted to do the same to them repeatedly and therefore block their line in.

Phoned at 13.20 29 April purporting to be from Halifax Fraud department stating there had been suspect activity on my account and requesting various card details in order to cancel the transactions. I called the Halifax Fraud number and cancelled my card.

Unknown, calls for 3 seconds and hangs up. Suspect it is just a long list of phone scams.

Like all the other comments, this was a recorded message claiming to be from Inland Revenue (I should have smelled a rat immediately at that point - it s HMRC now...) and that I was being sued. Brain not in gear, and in panic, dialled 1, but silence at the other end, then call terminated. I am now so angry. I get several calls a week from this company which I ignore. As it seems they have first names they must be getting this information from phone companies selling lists on. Only my friends, family and phone company know my number AND name.
