SPAM Foreign caller asking about repairs to your council housr When you query her they get verbal
Woman with bad English reading from a script. Said she was from british gas and wanted us to give our postcode, account number and meter number. We said no and she said she would ring back. Obviously a dodgy call centre as other people have said other companies and reasons for the call! BLOCKED!!
I tried to send a text message to this mobile number but it would not send so I blocked it.
This number rang off a couple of minuets of my saying hello ... when I called back it said it was an incorrect number so it does seem to be suspicious.

This is a Bedford number so it will be the scammers at J Talk pretending to be your BT manager. Somehow got my personal mobile number but when told the time of day he rang the company number immediately. BT, how do these people obtain private details, someone must be passing them on?
Just got a call from a so-called O2 representative with a clear Asian accent. They asked me to confirm my billing amount. As a precaution, I ended the call and decided to report this as a potential scam. Stay vigilant, folks!

Message arrived over WhatsApp - I guess it's now the platform of choice for scammers, as bulk SMS costs money? Suspicious "hi, hope you are doing well" received, and nothing else. I'd suggest do not reply, not even to ask "who is this?", as it's likely a scam. If it was somebody I knew, I'd expect them to use my name and/or identify themselves if they can see we haven't communicated before.

Probably a scammer. This number has made repeated nuisance calls since 30 May 2023. I have a call screening phone and they never go through call screening to announce themselves or leave a message. They’ve called me on various weekdays, and Saturdays and Sundays. Calls have been in the daytime and evening, with one made after 8pm. This is not a company as they don’t call at those times. Anyone genuine would leave a message.

This was the number that called me back after responding to a search on Google for an emergency plumber. The booking for a call out was £50 to start with and then there would be charge for the work done. By the time the plumber arrived a friend had resolved the problem and he was not needed. He still insisted on doing something and then charged £220! When we challenged they reduced it to £150. I advised that this was a total rip off! Do not use 24/7 Emergency Services!

UK revenue don't call anyone in this way. The speaker clearly did not know me nor my location. Slight American accent.
