Clutching at straws to collect very old debts, they buy up old debts and harass people
My husband was texted by this number saying it was "Sarah", she had broken her leg, was in hospital and needed his help to buy a £20 phone voucher before she had an operation on her leg later that afternoon. He only knows one Sarah and stupidly assumed it was her so paid the money. It didn't occur to him it was a scam but when we checked with the real Sarah to see if she was ok we realised it wasn't her at all.
Left a message on voicemail claiming to be the "Barclays Bank sort code migration team", referred to a non-existent letter they had "previously sent me" and gave me an impressive-sounding reference number with which to call them back. I don't even have a bank account with Barclays, so this was clearly an attempted scam. They have tried twice now and I have blocked them.
