Man claiming to be from BT woke us up to check broadband signal. When asked he said he’s calling from London, yet tel. no. 01619895754 seems to be from Manchester. Not with BT so suspected it was a scam & told him so. He spoke in a strong Indian ascent with broken English. Despite being asked if it’s really this urgent as he’d woken us up. He didn’t apologise & continued that it was urgent enough to call at 8am to check our broadband. This caller didn’t feel genuine to us, so we asked him no

This number is a genuine number but it has been spoofed by unscrupulous people. I called the number back and they have advised of the above and to ignore the call coming from that number. The genuine people are lovely, it’s the people using the number (spoofing it) that are the problem

SCAM This call is related to energy and initially sounds like a live person but if you don't respond it becomes clear it is pre recorded. Be very careful about responding with "Yes" or "No" answers as your voice response can sometimes be used for other potentially fraudulent purposes
