I kept missing this number when they called (a couple of times a day) It looks like the tax man number so I rang back. It was never answered but since that day I get text messages re car tax rebate which I know is a scam. Be very careful.

The number is in Runcorn so misrepresentation of fact! Answered the phone with what are you selling, told them not to phone again as I don t want to buy a car. On a mobile telephone I use only for emergencies I received a text message suggesting I apply for flight delay compensation. I get many unwanted calls. This was another uninvited intrusion. I have not flown! They must have randomly picked my number. It was bad manners, another impertinence of the type that needs to be stopped.
Received a call offering a free tablet, declined as I did not believe they were calling from Vodafone themselves, and hung up. Then received a seemingly automated text message from Vodafone advising the call was genuine, but the grammar in the text was poor - "infact", "you wasn t sure", "removed you from our list of customer" - so I can t be sure if it is genuine. Surely a big company like that would check something so simple?
