Caller said he was Chairman of BT. I questioned him, about why he called me, asked him where he was calling from. then he hung up

SCAM or fraud. I reported this company to Action Fraud today - BAM Drainage Ltd. Company was set up in March 2020 and somehow managed to get a payment from my mother soon after. Ally my research points to preying on the elderly and vulnerable here. I have not been able to get through to the number on their website to discuss.
