An automated message supposedly from BT stating that there was suspicious activity on my internet and that I was about to be cut off. There was an option to press 1 to resolve the matter. I didn't!

I didn't catch the company name but it was something to do with home cover - the man asked if I was me, so I said no but could I help. He said he was ringing about the cover on the washing machine at (gave my address), he said it had expired and he just wanted to check if the machine was still in good working order. I said I didn't understand and that he must have the wrong people

Call claimed to be from Vodafone retentions department promising me a 40% discount, asked me a bunch of security questions and then asked me to read him the code from a password reset email that he had triggered on my Vodafone account. This apparently would enable him to send me the priority app so I could access 5G calls and VIP features. Alarm bells at this point. I said I'd call him back then checked with Vodafone. They confirmed that this is not a number they use and not to give out any information. SC

Remember, anyone who cold calls you, (especially when you are registered with the TPS), is highly likely to be at best disreputable or at worst an out and out fraudster. I received a call from Motorpal today Telephone number 029 2036 4211 , they wanted me to pay £1 for vouchers to be sent then alarm bells rang so I did some checking and found this site. I have asked them to call back tomorrow as I said I did not have my card to hand lol. I will be giving the details of the caller to the fraud squad tomorrow and contacting my local MP after the general election . Called twice this week on call out number for plumbers - asking to speak to person who deals with coffee consumption. Were told that we are in serviced offices - so we do not have anyone dealing with coffee. harrased me for the number of my office building - told sternly NO. Call back 2 days later, same again
