Rang off as soon as the realised they were rumbled and I was running reverse tracing on them. South African IP and call number spoofing. Rang to tell me im in debt and i have been shortlisted!!! i would say if we included everyone in debt that list wouldnt be so short...... AVOID do not give any info

Claimed to be calling from "credit investigation unit" and government had shortlisted me to write off 90% of my debt. I got him to stop, then said I was recording the call and began quizzing him. The story he spun twisted and flipped, wouldn't answer how/why the government knows what my credit status is, or who compiles the shortlist, or where his employer got it. I repeated that I was recording the call and suggested it was a scam. He swore and cut off the call.

A recorded message informed me that some fairly large debits had been made on my Barclaycard account and that I should press '1' immediately. (I didn't do so.) Checked my Barclaycard account and there is no sign of any such debits. I therefore concluded this was a scam.

SCAM called wanted to talk about my Virgin Media broadband which was about to be disconnected. When I told him that I don’t have service from Virgin Media and suspected a scam call he got abusive.

Scam caller - claimed to be from Virgin. I kept them on the line for a while then when I told them I was aware they were a scammer they immediately became very abusive. Vulnerable people could be taken in.
