Suspect this will allow them to take over your phoneline or charge something through the call or something like that. Not hugely convincing but I expect some people might be worried enough that they fall for it.

They rang me 23 times in the last week, I had no choice but to answer - I got someone from economy energy in Glasgow using my first name - not particularly happy with the familiarity in which he tried to talk to me - ended up hanging up only to receive a succession of 5 more quick phone calls - now blocked.
