Some guys called me asking if I was Mr. R. (I'm a woman btw). I said "no" so he said "forget the name then, your number was put as a first point of contact following a minor incident involving a car". When I explained I don't own a car, and have never in my 31 years been involved in any incidents, he just refused to believe me. Kept saying "it was just a minor" over and over again. The above number sent me an sms that has a suspicious link with the message that my PayPal account has been suspended. In order to resolve the issue they were asking me to log onto my PayPal account through the link. I contacted PayPal they said they didn't send any text message and that my account wasn't suspended. So they are scammers based in Kazhakstan.

SCAM Dangerous Number. This is related to Microsoft scam who will tell you there is an issue with your PC, gain access and then wipe out your bank accounts after locking you out of your computer. You then get further harassment calls from them trying to "give your computer back" so they can gain further access/exploit more cash from you. Key targets are older or vulnerable people. Be safe.

Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 17089074xx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with PPI, Accident claims, insurance marketing. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). Folks did they call you with the same or something new?
