I've had 2 unknown numbers from Liverpool. One 'following an accident I've had' ... and the other call the line went dead. Have blocked both now.

This number called me today sounded like someone drowning under water very strange noises and gurgling. I hung up.

Claimed to be from "Alba Services", saying that "money has been allocated" for improving energy efficiency in homes. Told me that they got the phone number from a "homeowner database" but wouldn t give any further info. It must be a crap database as this is a newsagents shop.... Chancing scammers.

I m the MD that one person above is keen to tell everyone about. We identify our phone line (an 01422 number) and my mobile is also clear for all on our company website. I do this as we have nothing to hide. We operate strictly by the Market Research Society guidelines. Happened to me on Friday. Said I was a student and had no money and walked off... he even spoke the same language as me which was shocking and made him so believable...
