Called my landline claiming to be from Smiley Broadband and could save me money on my landline and broadband. Asked how long they had been trading as I've never heard of them. Guy said that they were based in Luton and had been trading for 20 years. Declined the offer and hung up.

I received a text message asking me to contact Beth .
This is a debt collecting company,the HMRC use them to collect tax.My tax was assessed incorrectly.After I filed my Self assessment to prove the debt was incorrect they called me back.I am TPS registered so shouldn t get calls and said I wasn t here then checked the number on this forum.I now realise they were probably calling me to confirm I do not owe any money therefore the call was legitimate.They wouldn t leave a message because that would mean talking about my personal affairs with someone else.

SCAM / SPAM BEWARE Text received 'from HMRC' saying I was due a tax refund - all I had to do was click on the embedded link to claim it. When I've had tax refunds in the past I've had a letter from HMRC so was immediately suspicious. HMRC website stated they never send messages by text so I forwarded it to their fraud line 60599 for investigation.
