Automated message rang saying I had placed an order with amazon for £300+ pounds which I have not! Put phone down before it could say anymore
Lady said she was fromTalk/Talk and my internet would be discontinued unless I pressed 1. I hung up
Called me at 8.35am and left no message. I suspect this is a scam.
Missed call. I called back the next day to an automessage saying the phone is switched off.

SCAM saying HMRC have a tax fraud case against you. Very loud threatening automated message telling you you will be arrested soon if you don't press 1 to call them. Mobile number locator shows as being near industrial site off Mitton Road, Whalley near Blackburn. The intent is to scare vulnerable/older people into making contact, so as to gain access to their PC via remote access. HMRC are aware of this type of scam but I informed them anyway.
I got a text from this number saying that I have a pending tax refund. I obviously do not.

23-11-2011 Mid-morning I was rung by a "Shane Carter" (English name, Indian voice) claiming to be from the "International Computer Technical Laboratory" (or something very similar) and stating he was concerned that my computer was infected by numerous viruses. I thought this had to be yet another scam, so as innocently as possible explained that I was in a rush but please could I have a number to ring back later. I expected the line to go dead, but actually the guy gave me the number. And they rang me back

We believe you to be suspicious of unauthorised transactions because you have never used these services in the past through your card. Was told by a lady that "I ve been informed that you were in a car accident that wasn t your fault" I replied really! and asked her who had informed her and she hung up. When I tried phoning the number the operator responded that it was an unknown number. Clearly a scam call!!
