Had a call at 11.25 today from this number with an Indian sounding man telling me that my computer had been compromised at around 01:00 this morning and they wanted more information from me so that they could investigate the hacker. He gave his address as British Telecom and, since I don't have an account with them, I thought is sounded very like a scam. The fact that the call seems to have come from India made me very suspicious.

This number is just another one in the same range of similar numbers - 19167199xx - same call centre, mostly reported as a silent call (just testing their database of numbers), sometimes as accident chasers ("Have you been involved in a road traffic accident...?"), or telemarketing offers. I assume this is the same case, blocked it when they called. Did someone speak with some person behind this number?

I am called regarding this scam at least once a month since a year ago or so... Every time is a different number, so blocking it doesn't help. It is really annoying. I wish I could do something about it, like report it to the police. This have to stop.

Received a text message pretending to be from WhatsApp. Apparently my number was going to be transferred in 24 hours. They gave me the option to call a Premium Rate phone number to query it. The number given was 0902 394 1410. I checked Who-Called.co.uk for info and found lots of people were being scammed with very similar numbers. DO NOT RING THIS NUMBER!
