Had a call from this number from a man with a welsh accent about Life insurance review and when I said I don't answer any personal questions over the phone unless I have initiated the call and could he take my number off his list the man got really shirty demanding how was anything he asked personal and when I said he would have to ask for personal info to do a review he got worse. I received a letter from Hastings Direct saying my car had been involved in an accident 6 months ago. I got suspicious as it didn t have any details of my car on the form. I called and was told line busy. I hung up after 30 seconds. I wonder how much that cost me. Great scam. Letter got my attention. I m sure my mum and dad would have held on the phone for about 30 minutes.

SCAM This was a call from a Asian male who stated he works for Carphone warehouse in West London. He stated that he was given my number because he was given my details by either Three, Vodaphone, EE, 02 and lebara. He stated that there was a contract with these organisation that granted Carphone warehouse the contact details of the customers of the above networks. I questioned him about how he was able to obtain my number, but he was unable to provide any information on how he obtained it legally.

Replayed the message and automated robot voice telling me that I better contact HMRC via their number or "face the legal consequences". Classic scumbo's trying it on. HMRC will write to you officially or contact your accountant for any issues. If in doubt, call your local HMRC offices and discuss with them directly.
