My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. Called my house number. Silence then hung up!
Been getting a few calls from this number over the last month, got fed up and answered, all I got was a robot voice saying goodbye before the call disconnected. Was pretty creepy and in general didn t appreciate all the attempts. From what I ve heard these guys are scam artists who atleast have access to vodaphone customer s information, though I m on orange, not the only one on this network to recieve a call from this number, so they most likely have access to their customer database aswell.

Woman phoned asking if I was Miss (my girlfriend s name) I m not the butchest of guys but I don t sound like a woman.... Very heavily accented Indian accent, also appalling sound quality with lots of noise in the background. When I asked who it was from, she mumbled something about PPI at which point I put the phone down.
