Even though it is a message from a local number, this appears to be a banking scam -
I was once a victim of crypto investment scam, I lost practically all my BTC. I was almost giving up but the amount of crypto I lost was too much. Called stating they were from Currys PC World when I asked what the call was regarding they replied with "special offer promotion iPhone 14 pro for £35 a month." Currys don't do phone contracts as far as I'm aware. I said I'm not interested and they hung up.

Probable Fraud/Scam - Heavily Indian accented female called Rachel called me purporting to be working for Microsoft at the Reading Campus. Claimed there was a problem with my computer and "bad people were using it for bad things on the internet". Told me she would deactivate my computer if I didn't do what she said. Got quite rude when I told her I didn't believe her. Stalled her for 5 minutes before she hung up on me.

This was a scammer who pretended to be from BT talking about illegal access to your broadband.!! That's rich!! Hacked my bank account and Amazon a/c. It took ages-up to 5 days to clear this mess up and it leaves a sour taste in your mouth. If someone had asked me last night if the death penalty was appropriate for scammers, I would have agreed. Now thinking about it castration without anaesthetic would be better.
