Usual thing - one quick part-ring then disconnect. The idea being to get you to ring high-cost number back. Don t - no reputable caller with something worth saying would call you from (or appearing to be from) an 0843 number.

This is from a company calling themselves Mortgage Revue Centre. Pests. Now barred on my phone. I am on TPS but they just ignore it.

A message on the phone for an individual requesting a call back to HMRC within 24hrs quoting a reference.
Called about accident claim, don't bother answering...

I have the message on my answer machine. They said there was a "serious lawsuit" against my name. Gave the number to call back on and said if I did not I would "face hard and unwanted legal consequences". Said she was Lisa Williams from HM Revenue and Customs. Do not take any notice of this call ... report it ... and warn others.
