I deal with all these types of calls exactly the same - when they ask to speak to Mr XYZ, I say "yes, hold on, I'll just go and get him...", then I just lay the ...
The same thing happened to me - I rang back and heard a few bars of music so hung up.
This is the second call in as many days from what appears to be a valid UK phone number but is most likely a cold caller masking their own number/ID and falsely making the call look like it's a UK number. I rang back the 'UK' number that phoned us the day before and it was a private individual living in Worcestershire. Neither she nor her husband had made the call. The Call Guardian phone has been worth its weight in gold as it deters 99% of cold callers - those that announce their names are then blocked

Called me and I couldn't hear, then called me back on another number 02039748882 asking if I remembered signing up to receive info about Quantum Software....no I didn't, bye. Called both numbers back "the number you have dialled is not in service"
