Man on phone sounded very convincing, said fraudulent transaction of £49.99 made to Argos, could o confirm I had made this transaction, to which I said no I hadn’t. He then asked me how many accounts I had with HSBC so he could check he was definitely speaking to the correct person. I said if he worked for HSBC, surely he would know the answer to this and said I thought he was a scammer and I wasn’t willing to continue with this conversation, he then put the phone down. I checked my account and it is ok

SCAM / SPAM: BT Scam! These scammers are certainly persistent. After an unsuccessful live call to me a couple of hours ago, this time they tried an automated call, from a different number (supposedly from Henley on Thames) with a rather plummy sounding English chap telling me that he was calling to tell me that my BT line and internet contract are being terminated today – “to fix the problem press 1”. Scumbags!
