Why is there no category for the "your computer has a virus" scam? These people claim to be from Microsoft technical support - hint, Microsoft has no way of knowing that you have a computer, let alone if it is infected with a virus - and want you to give them remote access to your computer to steal your data, or bank details, or lock up your computer and demand a ransom, or just plain scam you for "fixing" something that wasn t broken in the first place. They try to talk you through looking up a licen

An automated recording claimed there was a tax fraud listed against me and if I did not press one, a warrant would be issued and I would be arrested. Scammers.

Phone call from an Indian chap supposedly phoning from BT Technical Dept. He was asking my Mother (a sprightly, switched on 80+) to delete items on her computer. Needless to say...

I made payment to these people too, for advertising in an upcoming event brochure of almost ?230, (I stupidly paid twice, as they rang back the next day and said the payment hadn t gone through, I did actually check with my bank, and there was nothing showing as having gone through the day before, but it did appear within a few days].
