Recorded message received today, 11 Oct. 2012. Started "Do not hang up" and claimed to be a Public Information message about a Government scheme to "write off 100 per cent of your debt" by next year. Already beneath contempt, this outfit is using a premium rate number (if I m not mistaken) - and as I am the first to mention this number on this site, we can all look forward to a lot more of it.

RTA Scam. They are breaking the law by cold calling numbers on the TPS (Telephone Preference Service). I think the best way to hit them where it hurts (if you have the time) is to keep the on the line as long as possible, keeping them thinking you are/might be interested, without giving out personal (or real) details. They left a voicemail so when I listened to the message a recorded voice gave an 0800 number to call and a website to visit - the address of which I didn't catch - the next thing I know I had been connected to someone in a call centre who just said Hello - dodgy much !!!
