I have received strange calls in past months some that relay false and misleading information I wonder if this is a similar thing.
Automated call which purported to be that I had been reported for fraudulent tax claims etc - total scam attempt

The caller tried to persuade me that a) they were from BT and b) that cyber-hackers were piggy-backing my internet connection to download illicit material without having to reveal who they are. I questioned them e.g. saying 'why should they need to use my line?' since it's so easy to download stuff anonymously from anywhere in most countries around the world. When I called them about this number they said they had a special arrangement with the company who sent it and that I would not be charged.
