I also got this call: at 18.49 on 11 June 2014. Chinese or Japanese voice I think. I recognised it from the scam publicity. Claimed to be Microsoft Security Dept and that there was a serious fault with my system, but wouldn t specify what it was. He knew my address and my wife s name. He must have got those details and the phone number from PC World, where she made a purchase recently. Her first computer purchase in her own right. Previously, I ve done it. Someone at PC World is selling these details.

Told me they had information about a claim for a car accident. Bogus. No such claim exists.

SCAM "BT Open Reach" - would I check how many lights are lit up on my router, as the main server is receiving error messages. Did my usual routine of pretending to be a little old lady whose grandson helped her with computers. Creepily, he wanted to know when my "grandson" would be home. I "got confused" about whether he did football or chess club after school on a Monday. At this point, I think the caller knew the game was up but he wanted me to hang
