Had a call today saying that they were a new company setting up in my local area and they already had a company in Leeds. Asked me if I drank water. Said no - he was surprised! Then said he didn t blame me. Asked if I would answer a few simple questions to be entered into a prize draw for a holiday. Told me if I won (which was very likely) then he would deliver the tickets to me in person at my house tomorrow. Got a call from this number asking me by name, he said this is Abdul from the National Advice Clinic, some kind of compensation scammers, sick of them, calling all the time, don’t answer their calls, just block the number: 0118-4359-998

The phone rang 15 times before I answered. Sounded like other people doing similar calls in the background. Accented man, knew my name and address!!!!?? Said my washing machine warranty was expired. I bought a new one within the last 6 months so this is rubbish. Very worrying that these people have addresses too!! Frightening for people living alone like myself.

After confirming I had been "exclusively" chosen to join their lottery syndicate, of which I politely declined, the caller commented on how nice I sounded on the phone, and could he personally keep in touch! Creepy!!

Scammer - Says they are BT openreach, then proceeds to say there is a problem with the router and you need to give them details to fix it. When I said I don't have BT services, the guy said "I know, BT is the only distributer over the country!" Really? Perhaps they need to do their homework. Three possibilities : they bought the number for their business from a telecoms provider, they hijacked it from a genuine user, or they spoofed it.
