Melville consultants visited my company saying they could appeal and reduce our business rates. The person who visited was Peter John. He said they could put in an appeal, no charge, but if appeal accepted then they would charge to complete the appeal and send in a surveyor. I was called by these people and sold a policy to cover my Hotpoint appliances for 12 months. The person seamed to know about my Hotpoint purchases and gave the impression that hes was actually from Hotpoint. I took out the cover and cancelled an existing cover with Legal and General. Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 1612497xxx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with financial services, PPI, insurance claims, loans. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). Folks did they call you with the same or something new? Number was 0151 281 5034, Liverpool, England. Said they were from HMRC and if I didn’t press 1 to continue with call, a warrant would be issued in my name. I hung up. If they were genuinely from HMRC they would not call you like this. I hate to think what would have happened if I had continued with the call, obviously trying to scam me for money. Please don’t fall for this. PUT THE PHONE DOWN.
