I got call from this number today but when I answered nobody responded however I could tell it was a call centre type call from the background noise/voices

Yup, car accident ambulance chasers. Just replied if they'd heard of the Telephone Preference Service and they hung up.

They said they were to do with Hmrc regarding fraud?

So far I ve received two calls from this number within 24hrs after an online enquiry for broadband & phone with EE. I was just "shopping around" for a better deal. I don t think I ll bother to look any further now if this is what s going to happen as a result, with endless and unauthorised telesales calls. They called my mobile and left a message for me to phone with meter readings (even though I sumitted them on-line in last 30 days). They get paid for each reading, without them collecting it. So my energy provider has increased costs(passed onto the customer) to receive something they already have. I ll save costs for me and my provider by submitting on-line.
