Pretty sure this is a scam number I’ve had the exact same call before asking for me to read out a code from a text I’d get sent from O2 put the phone down and called o2 myself and they said it was a scam

Guy called Chris saying he knows i am the household energy payer i asked where he got my number from and he hung up

there appears to be a large number of calls from the 0161 728 xxxx area, they all seem to be scams of one kind or another you should be very careful if you receive one. be on your guard.

They are saying they are from BT, however the following is true (as I worked for BT for 36 years). 1 - BT do not ring you on a mobile number (unless and engineer has an appointment at your house that you know about). 2 - The phone is registered to Vodaphone, BT do not use any other networks for their own use. 3 - He could not give me my BT account number. 4 - He said he was from Millenium City London, this mobile number is located in Manchester! Fraud On Caller Display, this number looked like a London exchange. On answering, I got a recorded message saying it was something to do with bank security, followed by a message that was intended to frighten. I hung up, and have blocked the number. Others receiving calls like this might be taken in. What can be done to stop them?

SCAM Originally said they were love energy then that changed to love Ltd. The manager I spoke to was rude, and as I said I would contact ofcom re the unsolicited call, he said that’s ofgem you F****ng idiot. I am going to contact ofcom and ofgem to see if they can do anything regarding this business as the manager I spoke to called me an idiot as well as F****ng hitler. He also said he was the owner of the business.

Received a text message that "Simon" tried to deliver my package, but no one was home, and to "reshedule" my delivery by accessing {OBVIOUSLY FAKE WEBSITE!} "postoffice-reshedule-depot.com". Incorrect spelling of reschedule not once but twice was the first warning it was a SCAM. Then looking at the full website address.......yeah....obviously fake, and a quick google search leads to a number of Phishing / Scam reports using this same web address. 100% confirmed scam.

This number called me on 28.04.23. Supposedly, a message from my bank to inform that my debit card had been used for suspicious purchases. To cancel the 2 transactions and speak to an agent press 1, which I did. A woman with a very strong foreign accent requested my name, date of birth and address in order to make the cancellation. She then asked for my card sort code, which rang alarm bells. I told her that if she was calling from my bank she should already know that and I would ring them. She hung up.

Pre-recorded female voice (American accent) purporting to be HMRC but number coming up on iPhone as Newquay area. Couldn't clearly hear what was said but usual message engineered to put people under pressure while offering a "Press number 1" type option to be put through to scammers most likely. Just waited and it cut-off.

Automated call claiming to be from a bank fraud department with suspicious activity on a card for transactions of hundreds of pounds. No bank name was mentioned and it asked to either authorise payments or choose to speak to someone. When no choice was pressed immediately the call was ended.
