I was called to day and the man asked to speak to my husband. I asked him what about and he said that it was about his HSBC holdings which needed assessing. I told him he couldn t be from HSBC as my husband died this year and HSBC were well aware of this. He apologised quickly and rang off.

these people call and say you owe councel tax arears,they give no details bar the amount and give you a acount number and sorting code to pay money into. I dont know if it is lagit or not,it is very suspect and im trying to find out about them.

Number called 3 times advising they are calling from the Carphone Warehouse and wanted to offer me an upgrade. They 1st and foremost didnt know which network i was with yet they were offering me an upgrade. It sounded dodgy so i thought i post on here. Please beware!

I received 4 calls today from above number plus 01606 866819, 07072 038865, 01386 708385.
nAlways the same recorded message starting at 08.25 this morning and finishing at 14.11...

Company called something generic-sounding like "UK Data" (can t remember the exact name) asked to speak to my husband saying he may be eligible for compensation "from his earlier work in industry". When I said I knew he has never worked "in industry" and asked what job they were referring to, he got quite arsey and aggressive. This is the HP support number. I had been speaking to them about an issue with my HP laptop, so they did have a legitimate reason to call me a few days ago, but the case had been closed so I chose not to take this call.

I ve had numerous calls(>25)claiming to be from"Talk Talk". Most calls are a few sec s of silence,followed by automated voice saying "Thank You" & call ends. Others advise choosing keypad options;I ve not tried,in case it s a premium rate/International call back scam. Sometimes caller speaks in broken English,citing:"My Talk Talk account"as reason for call. Repeated requests to remove my number, in compliance with Data Protection Act are ignored.

Turns out it is a local call number for an American selling investment advice, so best avoided.

ANY call about problems with your computer, broadband, router, viruses, IP address, broadband being cut off, offering discounts, etc., IS ALWAYS A SCAM. DO NOT be intimidated...

Had a recorded message saying I was guilty of tax fraud and would be arrested shortly if I didn't press one.
