These days it is well worth having caller display on a land line - mobiles have it anyway. So for all these callers, 0845-, unavailable, withheld, etc., just lift the receiver and drop it back immediately, or, on a mobile, answer the call and immediately shut it down. This stops answerphone message.

I m ex directory & this clown rang from 0141 212 8500 speaking in an aggressive manner, demanding to know if I was Mr Harrison (I m not) I said, you ve rang me on an ex directory number, so you tell me your name first, & so it went on, until he got increasingly demanding and said he s track me down by another method. This is a company used by other organisations to collect Magazine Subscriptions as well as other type of subscriptions that people "fall into" by aggressive selling,on the phone after you agree to take a "free" copy of "National Geographic magazine".
