Claims to be from EE promotions, I thought it was true as I did recently ask EE to call me as I was in the realm for an upgrade. Answered because it was a local number, it was a recorded message informing me she was from Visa protection (or some such) and a £300 payment to Amazon and £1000 and odd to elsewhere were pending, press #1 for help if I had not authorised them. An unnerving scam, could easily catch someone out. Blocked.

I was called at 06:50 but no message was left. This is an incomplete number as there should be an extra digit, but this is what was displayed onscreen. 701 is an exchange used by Manchester Royal Infirmary for some wards.

I have been telephoned this afternoon – apparently by EE – to tell me that I was getting a 45% discount on my bill for the next year? I was then passed on to a supervisor to confirm my email address – which I did.
