A large number of people have been called by the criminals using this fictitious number according to other sites. Their aim is to gain the confidence of people and persuade them to allow access to their computers so they can infect them. My wife went through this and they are evil. they clearly have some access to HMRC they threaten you with jail and then ring off and ring back as a Police Man saying they are sending a van round to your house. they claim to know where you live by geolocating you report to Action Fraud - its your duty.

My mother has been contacted many times on this and other phone numbers. The message, from the caller is always the same, she tells my mother, first in English and then in Chinese that she has a package waiting for her, to collect from the Chinese embassy. This is clearly a scam call.

Said he was from BT and they are about to disconnect my internet because I had apparently downloaded such bad viruses that it was affecting their network, lol. He said he can show me on my computer. I asked him to give me my BT account number. He started to get agitated and said he cannot do that over the phone. So I asked him to tell me my address and he said F*** you and hung up.
