"I too hit the link about Sean Connery, got this message with the spoken text - Microsoft - dangerous virus - we'll have to block your computer to stop it infecting our servers, blahblahblah - and clicking on the checkbox to make it go away has no effect. So, like your correspondent above I powered down then up again after a couple of minutes. All fine. Don't fall for it."

"This happened to me yesterday (13/10/2016) from someone saying they were microsoft approved operators from the USA. Spent 30 mins with the guy who told me to do as he asked or my computer would be blocked by the virus which had infected my computer. When he got to the point that he would have to pass me over to one of their senior technicians, and started talking about the cost of rectifying the solution, I got suspicious. I put the phone down and immediately changed passwords on my banking accounts. Beware,"

"I nearly fell for it too - after clicking on the Facebook link re Sean Connery. I did call but only for a short while as whilst the screen details looked legit with Microsoft logos I was immediately suspicious once I called and they asked for remote access. I definitely didn't and killed the call and switched off the PC and re-booted later and all seems to be OK. So I agree with all the other advice above."

"I had the message on my computer this afternoon, called the number and spent 90 mins talking to someone about mending my computer, only to be asked for£199.99+VAT for a programme to fix it. I refused as I don't have that sort of money anyway. I have now turned my computer off, and disconnected it from the internet. Can I now turn it back on and connect it up again?"

"In charge is of 1100 pounds on an international money transfer website. We believe these to be suspicious and unauthorized transactions as you have never used these services in the past through your card. To allow these transactions, press 1. To cancel or speak to our support Team, Press 2. Thank you. Goodbye."
SCAM? This number called with a recorded message saying to press 1 to speak to hmrc tax officer. Did not have my name or anything but said that discrepancies had been found on my tax return and could be a criminal offence. Cut off when I didn't respond. Doubt that hmrc would be calling from Russia
so so Happy
In these difficult times with supply lines all over the place I have been so impressed with Contract Cars...yet again. I started my journey with them in 2014 and have always been kept up to date with delivery and meeting my expectations at all times.
Hats off to Chris Johnson who has always been brilliant over the years. A credit to Contract Cars and as a manager in a sales environment theirs I've recommended CC to many people and will continue to do so.
Unsolicited call to landline, from unknown (to me) caller. I screened the call, no message left. Interestingly other popular 'who called me' number search sites had no record of this number. Be aware & alert every1 & stay safe.
This number 07459171333 keeps calling my elderly mother, automated message states large sums of money have been taken from her account.
Scaring the life out of her, these scams are disgusting.
SCAM
Someone called “David” called trying to sell me a mobile phone contract. iPhone 13 pro max, 24 months with unlimited data, minutes and texts. For £40 a month. When enquired, came up with nonsense which made no sense.
Asked for network provider, my name, and starting asking family names. Of course gave fake names and realised I knew they were scammers.
Swearing dialogue commenced, said they were from Sri Lanka which seems nonsense. Accent sounded Indian.
Called back on different number

Claimed to be 'Fran' (I think) calling from 'your bank' did not mention my name or which bank.
Called twice and hung up as soon as I answered.
